The sleepyhead nations in the world
The folklore wants the Mexican to be the sleepiest ones in the world, yet a
OECD research of some years ago has revealed they sleep only little more than us Italians.
Did you know that the Frenchmen are those who sleep most? Let us go step by step:
The peoples who sleep least
The most active ones are the Koreans, who sleep an average of 469 minutes per night, followed by the Japanese and the Norwegians, who snooze respectively 470 and 483 minutes.
The peoples who sleep most
As stated, the Frenchmen are the greatest sleepyheads in the world, their sleep last up to 530 minutes per night (which means almost nine hours!), followed by the Americans (518 minutes) and the Spaniards (514).

The Italians, therefore, in spite of their being famous as lazybones, are just at the thirteenth position, preceded right by those Mexicans whose siesta is the very emblem of sleeping. At the time of our grandparents, everybody used to sleep more; now the lights, the working rhythms, the social life opportunities, the anxiety, the house installments and miscellaneous concerns have subtracted time from sleep. Though, reducing the sleeping time means poorer health, precarious balance as well as physical and psychological inefficiency.
In this case, our cousins on the other side of the Alps are masters and – if we really cannot imitate them – we might perhaps plan our holidays in France, you never know … ;)
