Childhood is to be treasured, not treated. At times a child’s behavior can take us by surprise or even be hard to deal with. However, in today’s world, what is common behavior for children and teens gets labeled as “pathological” and “treated” as an illness or “disorder”, whereas there is a lack of objective scientific proof that this is the case.

When we safeguard today’s children, we are guaranteeing the future of our society. If we keep on sowing “illnesses,” we can’t help but reap irresponsibility; responsibility won’t lay with me, or him, or education or study; instead the fault will be attributed to an illness, a specific “disorder”. We have to take a different approach, which will allow us to understand the language of children; we must bring them up with precepts and values, this is how we can invest in their potential. Pensare Oltre [Thinking Beyond] represents a culture of respect, especially toward our little ones. Our objective is to develop, maintain and spread this culture among parents, teachers, doctors and citizens, so that we may provide value and strength to the men and women of tomorrow.

What is Pensare Oltre (Thinking Beyond)

Pensare Oltre (Thinking Beyond) is a large cultural movement created with the intent to safeguard children. Supported and promoted by five non-profit organizations since 2006, it’s non-partisan, apolitical and non-denominational. Its main activity is to spread information in order to give each individual the chance to formulate their own opinion on the subject of safeguarding children and teens, so as to enable them to make better informed choices. The key to our success is the sharing of this very fundamental social responsibility.

Objectives and Goals

Main Objective: To sensitize institutions so as to make it possible to get laws passed, which prohibit school testing targeted to identify and diagnose alleged behavioral or learning “illnesses,” employing questionnaires that lack any objective or scientific foundation.

Our Ultimate Goal is to create new awareness and a heightened responsibility in the shaping of future generations, by using the same tools– arts, sports, nature and learning – that have raised to greater heights every man and woman of great past civilizations, so as to bring about a new era of Renaissance for children in our society.

A Tangible and Ongoing Commitment

•  We have distributed 1.000.000 educational pamphlets to Italian citizens.
• We have distributed 40.000 copies of our cartoon collection (Lupo Alberto, Cattivik and the Winx).
• 125 Associations, Institutes, Federations and Companies have adhered to our cause.
• 70 known personalities in the fields of the arts, sports and education have adhered to our cause.
• We are sponsored by 35 public institutions, such as provinces, districts, municipalities, corporations and foundations.
• 2 provinces have passed a law to prohibit psychopathological testing in schools.
• A 30% decrease over a three-year period in “diagnosis” of hyperactivity and psych drug prescriptions to children in Italy.
